NYSC discharges 987, extends service of four corps members in Katsina

The National Youth Service Scheme, NYSC in Katsina state Saturday in a low key ceremony that took place in the four zonal offices of Daura, Katsina, Dutsinma and Funtua local Government Areas of the State, discharged 987, extended the services of four while ordering four other corps members to repeat their service years
A press release which was signed by the state NYSC Public Relations Officer, Mr. Obemeata Alex and made available to newsmen said the decisions were in line with the NYSC By – Laws for various degrees of offences
He further disclosed five outstanding corps members amongst those discharged in the just concluded 2018 Batch C Stream 2 passing out and were given state honors award in recognition for their excellent and dedicated service
The state’s NYSC coordinator, Alhaji Ahidjo Yahaya, in a message to the outgoing corps members enjoined them to utilize the lessons learnt in the service including the camp training in Skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development programme during their orientation course to be self reliant and contribute to national development
He further counseled that should they stay back in Katsina and engages themselves meaningfully Ventures using the SAED experience, instead of going back home to inconvenience their parents, it will speed up their entrepreneurial efforts.

In a related development, the Special Adviser to Katsina State Governor on Youth Development and Chairman Katsina State NYSC Governing Board, Alhaji Ibrahim Aminu Khalil has urged youth corps members in the state to embrace Entrepreneurship, Skill acquisition and Self employment instead of waiting for white-collar jobs after passing out adding that the unemployment level in the country presently is very alarming.
Khalil who made the call during a skill acquisition workshop in Katsina, maintained that Government cannot continue to employ people into the civil service because the system has become saturated, adding that the yearly budget of government does not favor further engagement of personnel as staff as the re- current expenditure is always higher.
